Headfort Golf Club was established in 1928 on rolling countryside that was formerly part of the Headfort Estate. It is located in the scenic Boyne Valley area of County Meath, not too far from the ancient sites at Newgrange and Knowth and from the pretty and historic village of Slane.
The Old course is well established as a leading golf venue and is a mature, tree-lined course that has several very narrow fairways through magnificent specimens of oak and beech. The greens are always a treat to putt on.
The New course, designed by Christy O'Connor Junior and opened to much acclaim in 2001 is a slightly superior golf course and an altogether different golfing challenge. Additional land was purchased along the banks of the River Blackwater that flows through the estate and full use has been made of this natural water hazard which features on 12 of the holes. Indeed two small islands in the river have also been used.
