Woosnam Appointed Ryder Cup Captain

2nd March 2005:
As expected and reported widely elsewhere Ian Woosnam was today announced as captain of the European Ryder Cup team to play the U.S.A. at the K-Club in September 2006.

Unanimously approved by members of the Ryder Cup committee at a meeting in Dubai, the Welshman will be a popular choice amongst both the players and the Irish golfing public. Woosnam said after his appointment "I have great affinity for Irish golf and especially the Irish golf fans".
